Alpha Engineering Sponsors Local Robotics Club

DB+

At Alpha Engineering, we’re passionate about giving back to our community.  Robotics clubs offer a hands-on environment where participants can learn and apply engineering principles to design, build, and program robots. It provides a practical and engaging platform for exploring various facets of engineering and developing skills that are valuable in the field. This year, we had the opportunity to support The Chapelwood Robotics Team, and they have had an amazing 2022-2023 season so far! They recently qualified for the world championship, and we are excited to continue to cheer them on. Learn more about their journey below.

After last year’s first place finish at the Indiana State Vex Robotics State Championship and sixth place divisional placing at the World Championships, the team set the bar high for this year. Two members moved on to junior high and left only one returning member from last year’s World Championship competing team, and he was ready to lead and take on the challenge.

Chaplewood’s twenty-member team began the engineering design process in early September, meeting twice a week. This year brought a few new challenges for the team to take on. Now, the robot must push, pull, lift, and spin five different game elements to collect 45 hockey-like pucks. All of these tasks must be accomplished in the same sixty second time period. After months of designing, building, modifying and rebuilding, all three grade level teams competed in multiple competitions.

Chapelwood’s teams placed 1st at four of the highly competitive competitions. These placings earned two teams, A and Z, a bid to the Indiana State Championships. The State Championship was held at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the competition was incredible. One of the Chapelwood teams outscored the competition and they were named the 2023 Indiana Vex Robotics State Champions. This was an amazing accomplishment and gave them the opportunity to compete in the Vex Robotics World Championships.

We are so proud of the Chapelwood teams and everything they have accomplished. They have so many opportunities ahead of them, and we are thankful to play a small role in their journey!
